The Pain Point

WhatsApp is filling your Google Photos.

WhatsApp is essential, but it creates a messy photo problem. Here is why Android users get trapped:

01

Your timeline is polluted

Thousands of memes, group forwards, and screenshots get mixed directly into your precious family photos and vacations.

02

Your phone is out of storage

WhatsApp media silently consumes 15 GB, 25 GB, or more. Your device constantly prompts you that internal storage is running out.

03

Fear of losing memories

You want to delete files to reclaim space, but you have no certainty whether they are actually backed up or gone forever.

The Solution

Send it somewhere else automatically.

MediaRelay watches the folders you choose and uploads their media to the Google account you designate.

01

Choose your folders

MediaRelay automatically detects your WhatsApp Images and WhatsApp Videos. You can also pick WhatsApp Business or custom folders.

✓ WhatsApp Images (3,410 items)
✓ WhatsApp Videos (620 items)
02

Pick your target Google account

Sign into the Google account where you want your WhatsApp media stored. Pick a dedicated album (e.g., "WhatsApp Backup").

• Destination: archive.storage@gmail.com
• Album: "WhatsApp Backup"
03

Safely reclaim phone storage

Files are verified with a remote Google Photos item ID and file fingerprint before being offered for cleanup. Free up gigabytes in one tap.

✓ 100% Verified in Google Photos
✓ Ready to safely reclaim 12.8 GB

Verified Cleanup Tool

Files are only offered for cleanup after verification. Nothing is deleted in the background. You review items and confirm cleanup explicitly.

Cross-Device Memory

Upgrading phones? MediaRelay's device memory tracks backed-up file signatures so you never re-upload duplicates when moving to a new Android device.

Safety By Design

And here is why you can trust it.

When dealing with personal photos and device storage, there is zero room for guesswork.

Zero Relay Server Storage

Media bytes stream directly from your phone to Google Photos REST API endpoints over TLS 1.3. We do not run any intermediate storage servers. Your photos and videos never touch third-party servers.

Files Only Cleared After Verification

Files are only offered for cleanup after MediaRelay verifies the remote upload and matches the file fingerprint. Nothing is automatically deleted. You always confirm cleanup yourself.

No Access to Chats or Messages

MediaRelay does not access, read, or decrypt WhatsApp databases, chat histories, or text messages. It only interacts with media files in public media folders through standard Android APIs.

Fail-Safe Cloud Check Protection

If network connectivity drops or cloud status is unavailable, MediaRelay immediately enters a safe hold state. It will never recommend clearing media when verification cannot be guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can MediaRelay read my private WhatsApp chats or messages?

No, absolutely not. MediaRelay has zero access to WhatsApp chat databases, text messages, or encryption keys. It only interacts with media files stored in your device's public media directories (such as WhatsApp Images and Videos) through standard Android MediaStore APIs.

Does MediaRelay store my photos on its own servers?

Never. MediaRelay operates on a Zero Relay Server architecture. Uploads are streamed directly over encrypted TLS connections from your phone to Google Photos REST API. No intermediate server ever touches, views, caches, or stores your photos or videos.

How does the storage cleanup tool work?

Files are only offered for cleanup after MediaRelay verifies the remote upload and matches the file fingerprint. Nothing is automatically deleted. You always review eligible items and confirm cleanup yourself via Android's system dialog.

What Google OAuth permissions does MediaRelay ask for?

MediaRelay follows the principle of least privilege. We only request permission to upload new photos and manage the albums MediaRelay creates (photoslibrary.appendonly). We cannot delete, edit, or view your existing private Google Photos library.

What happens if I switch to a new phone?

MediaRelay features a cross-device memory ledger that records anonymous cryptographic signatures of your backed-up files. When you log into MediaRelay on a new device, it recognizes already-saved media so you never waste bandwidth uploading duplicates.
