01 MediaRelay is not finding my WhatsApp media
On Android 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, Google introduced Scoped Storage. WhatsApp stores media under:
Fix: Ensure you have granted the Photos and Videos (or "Files and Media") permission when prompted. If prompted with the folder picker, select your WhatsApp Media folder to grant persistent permission.
02 Backups are pausing or only running when the app is open
Android's aggressive battery optimizations (Doze mode) may suspend background network tasks.
Fix:
- Go to Android Settings → Apps → MediaRelay → Battery.
- Select Unrestricted.
- In MediaRelay Settings, check whether Wi-Fi Only or Require Charging toggles are active and if your device currently satisfies those conditions.
03 Google Sign-In shows "Access Blocked: App Not Verified"
During our initial public beta phase, Google displays an unverified app consent warning until the Google Cloud OAuth review concludes.
To proceed during Beta: Tap Advanced on the Google consent screen and select Go to MediaRelay (unsafe). Your connection remains 100% direct to Google's official endpoints.
